Founded in 2006, Shen Yun is a New York-based nonprofit performing arts organization devoted to classical Chinese dance and live music. Its large-scale production is presented as “China Before Communism” and unfolds through roughly 20 short vignettes inspired by Chinese history, folklore, and traditional culture. The format combines classical dance, elaborate costumes, animated digital scenery, and a live orchestra blending Eastern and Western instruments.

Across its touring companies, Shen Yun has grown from its original 90 performers to approximately 480 artists. Production details include more than 400 hand-sewn costumes, with changes between stories helping distinguish their settings and characters. The show runs for about two hours, including one intermission, making the Long Beach date a substantial evening of theatrical performance. Specific opening acts and a tour title were not provided.

Long Beach's downtown waterfront setting places the theater within the Long Beach Convention Center complex, near the city's hotels, restaurants, and other attractions. Prices currently start around $40, with final costs varying by seat location, availability, and applicable fees.
